Alexander Gwyn is a poet based in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Poetry came to him, not the other way around — arriving one morning unbidden and refusing to leave. What began as a single poem became an entire collection, shaped by the voices of Frost, Eliot, Dickinson, and Poe — and grounded in the love of his wife Heidi, who he credits as essential to every word.
His debut collection, "Bend My Light," is organized in three movements — The Descent, The Search, and The Arrival — and pairs 23 poems with 25 original expressionist illustrations inspired by Van Gogh.
It is, as one reader wrote, "a journey from darkness to light."
"It was like the author was reading the hidden me. It felt like my life spread out in these pages."
"A gently flowing stream of consciousness. An unexpected gem — a delicate balance on heavy subject material."
"Beautifully written poems that speak to the soul and uplift your spirit. Had me reflecting on my own life."
"Deep, emotional words paired with beautiful artwork. Burden Bird speaks to those carrying more weight than they should."
"Absolutely stunning artistry. All have the ability to stir something within one's soul."
"Alexander Gwyn is a realist. Themes of loss, loneliness, adversity and rebirth — a raw and real read."
